January’s review had a great reception so I’m back with another for your head top. Still no iPad Pro or Product Design job but we move regardless!

Check out my January review below if you haven’t already:

Comic Sans is the World’s Greatest Typeface

At first, I thought it was a slow month design-wise but now that I reflect properly on the month, I did quite a lot. Some things not 100% aligning with the job role search but still pushing me in the ballpark of that in the grand scheme of things.

First and foremost, I finally finished and successfully passed my UX Course with BrainStation. It was a very good course that I highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn UX Design. I chose the 5-week option which was intense. Every Saturday my lesson spanned from 3pm to 10:30pm. BrainStation is a Canadian based company so the timezones weren't in my favour but we got it done.

Shoutout Julia 🥽

I’m also happy with the project I ended up creating. I was severely behind on the final prototype before the last lesson presentations, but somehow I got a good design finished within a couple of hours, after days of procrastination.

Comments from my Lecturer:

Great job including the finer details into your final prototype. The layout and the hierarchy of information look great. Its easy to know what to look at and what to tap on. All those elements really help bring your idea to life.

After finishing the course, I took a break from designing, case studies, portfolios and all that stuff just to relax a little. I don’t regret it either.

Rebrand season

I’m still on the new year, new me type vibes so I thought it was time to show some continuity throughout my platforms. One day I suddenly got a moment of inspiration and motivation to make my own personal logo and this is what I came up with…

Someone said it looked like peas in a pod. And you know what, I hear it man.

As soon as a conjured up this mark in Figma, I knew it was me. We haven’t even got into the colour yet either. The signature colour of my brand was inspiration taken from my car ambient lighting as you can see below:

Inspiration is all around us.

I’m happy with what I came up with and excited to incorporate it into my ‘brand’ everywhere. If you see me wearing a tracksuit with the logo on it, mind your business.

This coincided with me wanting to build up my Instagram and start showcasing my work. I have a newfound admiration for content creators because that job is hard. I forgot to post most of the month but I aim to keep on track now. My feed looking good so far though 👀

Can’t skip leg day

Moving away from design for a moment, my health and fitness have still been going strong. Alongside going gym every day, my workplace and I have started playing weekly football after work on Wednesdays. It’s fantastic. All them guys that want to send cheeky emails, you know the ones where they don’t say ‘hello’ or ‘hi’, just your name with no ‘kind regards’ at the end of it, all of them get greeted with a few late tackles for morale purposes 😁

Also finished my third book of the year Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter by 50 Cent. Highly recommend and I will take a lot of things from that book. My next reads are Deep Work by Cal Newport and Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

I need to talk to the fangirls of 2012

To finish this update off, we need to have a serious conversation. I just finished watching the Twilight Saga for the first time. Those movies are not good at all. They made three movies about a trio of vampires (that the audience had no connection to) going after Bella. The one good thing throughout the whole series was the twist at the end where we saw what could have been a huge fight resulting in Aro getting killed but turned out to only be a vision from Alice. That part got me.

Goals for March

  • Finish second case study write up
  • Consistent posting on Instagram
  • Be ready to apply for Product Design Roles

What to Watch List:

Question for my MCU hive: Was that Superior Iron-Man, Kang as Iron Lad or Maria Rambeau fighting Wanda?

February was a very quick but relaxing month. Ended and started a few things which are keeping me on track. Overall, happy feelings on the last day. Hope you all enjoyed your February too and are ready for the final month of Q1.

I think March will be the turning point for something very good…
